On Easter Sunday 2011, we officially launched our 2011 campaign that we have centered around three words: Refocus, Repair, Revive.
Everything related to this campaign is a result of our desire to remain in our current location and continue our ministry to the diverse and needy South End of Louisville. Below you will find a brief summary of each point.
Refocus
The first leg of this journey is a proposal to REFOCUS our church government and leadership so that we more faithfully reflect the Bible’s teaching, which clearly demonstrates how churches should be led by a plurality of pastors. Each Wednesday night for the next several weeks, I will be teaching step-by-step through what this looks like biblically, historically, and practically.
Repair
The second leg of this journey is a proposal to REPAIR our church roof as well as some of the many damaged, worn, or outdated parts of our church building. We truly do have a great facility with many opportunities to do ministry, but after roughly twenty years in this location, we need some updates. We will need to raise about $100,000 for all of these proposed projects, and 25% of everything that is raised will go towards Missions and Evangelism. That is a large goal that may seem unattainable, but we trust the Lord for His provision.
Revive
The third leg of this journey is a proposal to ask God to REVIVE our hearts. As important as the first two items are, this third area is supremely important. Only God can revive our hearts, and so we must beg Him to do so. Only God can save lost people, and so we must beg Him to use us to take them the gospel. Only God can grow our church, and so we must beg Him to enlarge our flock with people who long to worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
How can I be involved?
If you are a member of NHBC, we need you to be involved in every aspect of this campaign. Involvement means faithful church attendance, teachable and humble hearts, prayerful and sacrificial giving, and a passionate longing for personal holiness. Aren’t these just marks of any growing Christian?
