We are still accepting items for the yard sale, so please bring your things to church or call us so we can arrange to pick them up.  Contact your friends or neighbors to see if they have anything they’d like to donate, especially if you know people who have larger items like furniture, appliances, electronics, etc.

If you plan to help on Saturday, please be at FBC Fairdale around 6am (or as early as possible for you and your family) to help us get all of our tables and items set up.  We will also be having our food pantry at New Heights from 10-11 as normal.

I have been the lead pastor at New Heights for 6 ½ years now, and we have frequently discussed, either in various Sunday morning preaching series or small group discussions, the nature and importance of church membership.  Starting this Sunday, July 1, I will begin a special five-week summer sermon series called “Membership Matters.”  Below is a tentative outline of what the five-week series will look like:

July 1 – Membership Matters: Is Membership Even in the Bible?     

July 8 – Membership Matters: How Does a Person Become a Member?

July 15 – Membership Matters: What Are the Biblical Expectations of Membership?

July 22 – Membership Matters: Are There Different Categories of Membership?

July 29 – Membership Matters: How Should Pastors and Members Cooperate?

 Obviously, our main intention is to reach some of our people who may not have been actively coming to corporate worship for some time and invite you back for this special series.  This is a special time and you will be welcomed back.  For those of you who are “members” of our church, it really is not overstating it to say that unless God really, providentially hinders you from coming, we expect you to be here.

God has brought us many newer members and attenders and this is a wonderful time for all of us to become acquainted (or reacquainted) with one another.  At the end of this sermon series, some time this fall, we plan to have a special service where all of our members will participate in a New Heights Baptist Church Covenant Renewal Service, re-pledging our commitment to the gospel work here at the church, and renewing our agreement with the church’s statement of faith and church covenant.

I cannot stress enough the importance of this series during such a pivotal time for our church.  God continues to bless us and do wonderful things among us, and yet there is so much more we trust Him for.
